First Build

Made this for myself but ended up giving it to my oldest grandson in Copenhagen, Denmark. It has a disk piezo. I fashioned the bridge out of aluminum "U" channel. The box lid is very thick so I routered a channel in it (down to about 1/8" thickness over the neck as it passes through the box) to get a little more vibration. The sound holes are trimmed out with chrome vanity sink tailpieces (with a flange) that were cut off and siliconed in place. Fretboard is 1/2" red oak dyed using coffee wash followed by vinegar wash that had a little piece of steel wool soaking in it overnight.I was surprised at the volume of sound when played acoustically. By the way, my grandson, Warren, loves it. He's 7 years old and he was already writing a song with the CBG the day after Christmas!

  • Beaut - nothing like that feeling when you hit the strings the first time! :-)
  • That is a beauty especially for a first build.

I can't wait to see what you come up with next.
