Because the numbers/letters were not centered on the plate, I made up for that by making the box bigger (it's actually a completely handmade box) and adding some brass flotsam from a chandelier. That way, I kept the strings centered on the box, AND the plate. A more pleasing design, in my opinion.
Thanks, Uncle John. The saddle does work well. It's hollow under the plate, except for the mounting tabs for the plate. The plate is a regular car license plate.

I call it art-deco. I call it very nice. Great look. Does the saddle work okay? Is that plate smaller than the norm?
