  • Hi Marcus, I typed out a reply to you request with relevant notes hit the wrong bit of the keyboard and it disappeared. ( don't you just love it when that happens ?). So here goes I will try again.

The sides are pine, top and bottom sheet 3 ply.the handle is in two halves that come together when the box is closed. The lining is brown fleece type material. All internal bits are stuck in place custom to my particular guitar to reduce movement to a minimum. I can't provide a plan as I made it up as I went along building it around the the size and shape of the guitar.  The sides are planed all round timber from DIY store 11/2" X 1/2 " butt jointed at corners making two frames of equal depth. top and bottom boards glued in place edges planed. Three 21/2 " brass butt hinges fitted flat mounted as timber is to thin to mount as you would on a door. Small clasps off eBay. Four coats of thinned  wiped on spirit based varnish. As the top is a mirror image of the bottom the carrying handle is in two parts, one half attached to top half of case the other to the bottom half. The guitar sits with its face protruding above the side of the bottom section. When the top is closed there is virtually no headroom above the instrument, 1/8th thick felt pads prevent any movement when case is shut. My idea was to make the fit s snug as possible . Hope this helps......Malcolm.

  • Malcolm , what wood is the case? Any chance you have a plan?
