ETC custom Pickup Prototype --I made a maple bobbin (exactly between a Strat and a P-90 bobbin size) -- cut a thick blade rail. Wound it with 42awg to 6.2ohms. - dipped it in shellac until the bubbles stopped...sounds great. Really unique and sick midrange - very vocal and natural. Might be a tad dark for the neck position, but boy, it sure responds to where you pick closer to the bridge or farther.I may try a treble bleed wiring or change the tone cap to brighten it up. But set the amp to a sweet spot and wow.Just need to shield the interior of the box I think. A bit microphonic now that it's in place (odd, it was dead quiet and noise-free when I plugged it in to test it outside the box -- I think I need to switch some wiring to see if that's the issue.

Hey Bob, I just noticed in looking at my process-photos: I have the BLACK lead starting the coil and the WHITE ending...do you suppose that would be making any difference in the tone or noise?
I wired it as a straight Vol / Tone knob set up (seymour duncan schematic) with the White being treated as HOT (I'd put black tape over the connection, so didn't even think about it since my gut tells me now to start the coil with white) -- or does that only matter if I have two pick ups? I hesitate to start desoldering and futzing around in there, but may have to since it was dead quiet when I tested it originally before mounting it in this build.
Thanks Bob, in case you didn't read the blurb: I made a maple bobbin (exactly between a Strat and a P-90 bobbin size) -- cut a thick blade rail.
