Dumpster build

Constructed for the dumpster build competition.I was given a banjo neck on new years eve by a man who had seen me play some of my cigar box instruments at the local pub (bar) and thought it might be of use. It had machine heads but the finger board was hanging off and it was well corroded. The body came from a set of broken drawers and was found in a skip (dumpster). Nut is a piece of scrap brass, bridge is an off cut of maple and a steel rod from somewhere. The string pegs are reused from somewhere and the top is a piece of scrap ply the my Father found dumped in a skip by his car garage. The instrument was varnished. I used old recycles guitar strings but had to change them as I wanted to play in public with it tonight and the old strings really were past their best so newer strings were fitted.
