Built this for the Rooster Walk festival in Martinsville, VA this weekend. They'll have all the bands sign it, then auction it off with proceeds going to their charity.

  • It really wasn't that difficult.  I roughed it out with a dremel tool, but the bit was too large to do things like the roosters legs, the spikes on its head, etc..  So, once it was roughed out I used a coping saw - removed the blade, slid it through the hole and reconnected it.  That way I could cut out the legs easily, rough in the tail feathers, etc...  Then, final clean-up was a couple of tiny files.

The hard part was coming up with a design that would work.  Once I actually started cutting it went very quickly.

  • Great! How do you shape a tone hole with that much detail?

  • Hope they have good penmanship. Your box deserves some respect...

  • 31 bands.  I think they'll sign on the front, the back, the neck....  Gary Sinise will be the first to sign Thursday night.

Its apparently a "thing" they do at this festival.  They have an artist paint a guitar, then have all the bands sign it, then auction it off.  This year they hadn't yet found a guitar nor an artist when I asked them if it would be OK to sell a guitar with a rooster sound hole.  They.... reacted positively, shall we say.

  • Hope they sign on the back...

  • Nice sound holes!  (and git)

  • Like this one alot. Looks like a fine player.
