I needed to get this one done so I could continue with my "all walnut" tests. This is my first attempt with a "cardboard" box and it came out pretty good. The lid is pretty thick pressboard that is plenty strong and produces a tone much better than I expected. I'll not shun the cardboard boxes at the cigar shop anymore.

Oh, and the saddle is a "nickel" hinge pin from home depot. Head cut off, one side filed flat, the other filed for string slots. HD had these on sale for 98 cents for a package of three, so I grabbed a handful.
Those are honest-to-goodness string ferrules from CBGitty! The tailpiece wasn't quite thick enough in my opinion for the classic end pins I originally had in mind. That, and the ferrules tie in nicely with the rest of the nickel & chrome hardware. The end pins looked a bit... uppity.

Pressed fiber sounds good. What are the metal barrels the strings are coming out of?
