Brian, I took lots of detailed in progress pics that I can share with you. I have built many Ukes using this same method with good results but not sure how well it will hold up to the strain of 8 metal strings. I'll send the pics when I download them from the camera.
Chuck: Mine 14" scale couldn't get much more out of it. Would be interested to see how you attached your neck. Mine is braced in the front with a large piece of maple and two large wood screws. I'm finding that I need more or better bracing under the bridge.
Looks really nice! I have my first Mando build almost ready to string up. Man I hope I have it braced up enough, kinda worried about it. I am building it to give to my daughter as a present. Mine is a reso with home made bolt on neck.
What is the scale length on your mando? I went with 14.25" on mine.
This build took a while. Bracing, bolting, glue. Damn those strings put a lot of tension on the box and neck. I straight through neck is the way to go next time.
