I have since updated this arrangement for bonding and planing work by removing the plastic pegs/stops and screwing the two softwood battens directly to the base board - a much more stable result!
I removed the neck today after 24hrs. glue setting time and it looks perfect - the tape was to hold the support battens in place while setting up, but i now have screwed the support battens onto the plastic pegs making a more permanent setup for planing/filing/sanding the neck, and to ensure the pressure is equal all the way along the fretboard.
My only concern is that the pressure might be concentrated on the lower edge at the table, at least based on how my shopmate works when clamping. Probably fine, but I would probably add more clamps along the top.
Question is why is that tape there? (Just curious!)
Facepalm moment - I don't know why I never thought of doing this. I've actually had a half dozen clamps holding my fretboard and neck together sitting right next to my workmate folding/clamping table. Doh! Thanks!
