.......and now with the 'half moon' infill piece glued in and finished with a little wood filler and sanding.
I also did an experiment on the fret board at this point to see if some ebony stain would give me the fret board finish I was aiming for. As you can see, not very good....'not 'opaque' enough. The solution, seen in later finished pics, was a carbon black acrylic paint marker. This was perfect, with nice thin, almost 'spirit based' paint that soaked right in where it was needed.
