Here is a comparison of the lip around my preferred resonator (6" in diameter) and the cut-down cookie tin resonator (5.5" diameter). The lip of my preferred resonator is wide enough to cover the inaccuracies that occur when I cut the resonator hole in the sound board. The cut-down cookie tin is actually made of thinner (magnetic) metal and the sides may or may not enhance the resonator (still to be determined).
