  • Recording, The music part of Murphy's law. Leave not a trace of brilliance to be found recorded....
  • Yeah I'm only 38 and I tend to go for more of the older acoustic blues, There's just something raw and simple about it that I love. I will break out an electric and  do some loud stuff but seeing as I don't have a rhythm section and it's just me I tend to keep it pretty simple. It's funny talking about the rainy tunes because every time it rains here I tend to get inspired and play some great music. The only problem is I never record it lol!!

  • I love the blues too, don't get me wrong. Especially the old country blues and 30s jug band blues. I don't care much for the frantic scream music. But hey, i'm coming to my 70s. Old guys don't howl like we used to. The rainy tunes come from the cool wet Spring. When the sun shines again, i'll add some more detail shots of this guit and add them to ebay so you can see the back and sides. Cheers Blue....
  • Most of my set list is cover songs but I'm working in some original stuff little by little. I joke with her about being the manager for Blue Collar Devils which in a sense isn't bad because she has great business skills lol!! Jazzy stuff is always great and I would love to do it but alas my first love is all things blues whether the mellow acoustic or the hard charged electric, Either one makes me smile. Rainy tunes, I like the sound of that :)

  • Blue Devil, I've been playing gentle Hawaiian shuffles and rainy tunes. Mood music. I don't have words for the tunes yet, but that will come if i'm lucky. I'm learning C6 tuning and it has a mellow minor feel, kind of jazzy. She likes the soft stuff. I save the bawdy jug band stuff for my band. She seldom comes to hear us play, so it works out good.

  • Thanks Uncle John. It's ready for the next 50 years.
  • That is like handsome as Dave Lynas.   Really a pretty git.

  • Likewise. My Wife likes to hear me play acoustically, not so much on the electric side lol!! I did give her a really nice acoustic that I own and she keeps bugging me to teach her to play. I love Firebirds as well I just can't get used to the tuners. I am more of a Strat guy these days anyway. There's just something about their sound :)

  • Thanks for the photos Blue. It's magnificent! I love that style of body. My spouse loves to listen to me play. That makes it for me. She never gets mad at me for my pile o guitars either. Not your normal lady, that's for sure.
  • I can sympathize with you on the too many guitars. My Wife gives me hell for having them everywhere lol!! Seriously though she is my biggest supporter and really pushed me to go solo and stay true to my roots. The Firebird is a Sunburst type with a couple of minor scratches but other than that it sounds brilliant. I will get a picture of it up here later today so you can see it.
