I like it better. The routed peg head is fine to good. Maybe stain or paint that biscuit and peg head the same color? It looks like a rich, warm old antique with a story to it.
John took my own advise and ripped off the snakeskin, doing an ironwood fretboard with 23 1/2" dulci fretting. Looks 10x better already...yeah with that cover plate it turned into a special build. Now to think on a redo for that routed in peg head.

Getting together with Maddog, Chris Lyons and T. Robert Johnson next week. I wish you could be there. I'm not an all star builder - Maddog is and you are. I wish about half a dozen all stars could be them could be there plus some of my best CBN friends.
yeah Uncle John I`m seriously thinking of making a new neck for this build. I don`t think the snakeskin on the neck will look right with this beautiful cover plate. I do have a plank of black walnut that I could get a new neck from.
Oh my! I thought you were talking about moons and stars as sound holes in the box. This is incredible. Wonderful. Now, what will you do for a sound hole?
