On my build, I used a small wooden bank from the dollar store. I had to mark the curve of the pre-amp on its side and cut the shape out on the bandsaw. I did manage to get a pretty close fit after adding a ton of shims all around it. But once it's complete, it fit nicely and it's about the same size as a regular guitar pedal, just much thicker.
Looks like this pre-amp model is less curvy than the one I got. I had to make a serious curve in the box I used in order to make it fit nicely (and I had to repair the original job to make it right)

I actually put the 4 screw in at an angle which helps pull the plastic a bit flatter. It's still pretty curvy though.
