I did end up switching to a piece of threaded rod for the nut, needed more string height for slide playing. I did put the tuners too close to the nut, wanted to leave room for a fourth string but even then I should have moved them up some for the string break angle to be better.
Well, getting them out of the junk drawer is a plus. One small tip I would give is to have a bit more distance from the nut to the tuners. Well, two tips. That nut looks nice, but one of the advantages to using a bolt or screw for the nut is that they tend to keep the strings where you want them.

Not many people would put planetery's in the junk drawer. Makes for expensive junk.
