I like the open E. Em is good too. I use both on lap steel. They fit well with other players and work great in keys of E, C, D, F and G. You can use the same slide positions as the G tuning and everything fits. Your uke looks great with the 6 strings.
I tuned it open E and used a slide. How do you describe how something sounds? It sounded bright and was loud for it's size. When it was plugged in it performed well, no popping or cracking.
