ARGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHH!My last build and rebuild are giving me fits. The rebuild looked good and then the glued down mag pup did not work.The new build (this one) looks just how I wanted it to look. But it is a DGB for fretted chords. Open G sounds good. A C chord sounds good. A D or D7 does NOT sound good or right.I had (bolt) nut too low. Now maybe too high. It may come out how I want it or may get changed to a slider in GDG.I also have a crappy and warped old acoustic to repair that someone bought as an intended Christmas gift.And I have a Mississippi License Plate LPG started. It will be a Christmas gift if the *&^%$#@ thing comes out.Man, sometimes I string them up and think they are good to excellent. And some times NOT!

Guitars are like some women , They will only let you know that they are unhappy with something ,,..... but you are supposed to figure out what it is . :-/
The body is cool! Sorry to hear you are struggling get it right. I know the feeling. There always seems to be something that comes up on a build that is unexpected and frustrating to deal with. It’s usually after I think I have everything all figured out. Intermittent buzzing drives me nuts. I often up giving up trying to figure out where it’s coming from. It could be a string, a fret, the box, the amp, the pickguard,... sometimes I just cut my losses and move on!
I have the same sentiments Unc. I’ve been pretty lucky lately except for long Cedar slivers in several fingers. One went through my varnish wipe into my Pinkie. Varnish hypodermic ! Chit...
Taffy, that thing is gorgeous. I have said before that most of us build cigar box guitars - fairly simple folk/folk art instruments. You are a true luthier. I feel bad for you, but your struggles make me feel a little better for me. I would bet you make it work out to be a very good guitar.
Ha, AGP. No one to blame but me on this one. But as you and I and others say, these things know what they want. This one may want to have the saddle raised and be a slider. Time will tell.
Hi UJ, I know how you feel, it happened to me too. I just strung up the guitar pictured after weeks of trying to rectify a number little issues [I won't go into them] that I know are there.
I cant in good conscience sell is as "perfect" so I'm mulling over what to do.
The last guitar this happened to, in 1980, I kept it and made excuses to the customer. As it has happened it turned out a great sounding guitar and I love its sound, as do all that hear it.
So this Parlor guitar may end up being a Demo model too. I 'll post more on it later. Taff

I often set them aside too, Doug. But I was hoping to do some Christmas songs on this one. Right now, I have several have to do projects first.

You are SO RIGHT, Bob. It is great to overcome obstacles. I hope to try something today and if that fails, it will be a dandy slider in GDG.
Some might say it's part of the fun... this can depend on the builder's state of mind when the ARGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHH! factor kicks in.
That has the look of a git that any Santa would want to play.
