I stole this from Uncle John after I traded for a couple of his gits. I like that both ends of the peg are supprted by wood. If the slot was in the center, the end usually isn't supported. Hard to see but I drill new holes in the pegs so the strings don't have quite as much of an angle over the nut. Or, in this case, the zero fret. Hey, your the guy with the lopsided headstocks! Visual symmetry indeed!
