I've been using these home made bridges of cedar. They don!t tip over easy. A regular Maple bridge tips over too easy. They sound good to me. And the 3 string is much easier for me. I have wide string spacing. The stings are easy to play individually since they form a triangle like a roof shape. 4 strings form a flat top with shed roofs on each side. The angle becomes very shallow from string to string so they are easy to play two or 3 at a time. I can still play two sting chords fine withe three string. Just like the 3 string CBG, it's easier.
Aw gees. That box and what you did with it is just about wonderful. The saddle though... It looks right, but as big as it is, how does it do on sound transfer?
Dave, I have a cheap fiddle and gave up on playing it. You can likely name the song I was hacking, but it sounded awful. Bad bowing. Is it easier to play a big 3 like this? It looks like it would be easier to hit just one string with the bow.
