I ebonized the oak and poplar and got a lovely stripe pattern in the neck and headstock. Unfortunately, she doesn't play as nice as she looks. Not as loud as my second build using the same type of box. I think the bridge should've been further onto the box. Also, the buzzing fret problem continues to plague me.

  • Dan, it buzzes when fretting the middle and low strings from frets 5 to 8.  I probably need to save up for one of those fret crowning files if I hope to sell these things someday.

  • If the buzzing you describe happens when you pluck an open string, it may be the nut or bridge problem described below. If the buzzing happens when you fret a string, that may be a fret or neck angle issue. It kind of depends on what you are doing when it buzzes.

  • Exactly, that was the problem I found is I wasn't giving it enough angle.   Adding the eye hooks helped give that angle I needed and solved my buzzing problem.

  • The buzzing fret problem..... I had the same problem and found a easy fix.  I add some eye bolts for the wire to go through first, it solved my problem....see image:
