  • Thank you Steven, I had a great time building this and it is going to a fine young man. It's great that you are building one, these guys and gals really do appreciate it.

  • Wonderful, thanx Bruce. I will definitely check out the dye.  Very cool stuff with the bridge.  I'm from colorado so loving the blue and orange.  I can't get over the neck and fret board.

  • That is some material that I supply for custom knife makers, it's called G10 which is a type of fiberglass laminate. I get it in different colors like blue, black, orange, ghost jade. I have some odd pieces around if you'd like to try some. The dye is an aniline dye, comes in powder form and is water soluble. Use it just like any stain for the most part, I apply the first coat then allow it to soak in for 10-30 minutes and apply one more coat. I let it dry overnight then burnish it with a smooth cloth like denim or old t-shirt, after that it's ready to finish with your choice of finishes from wax, to oils, lacquer, polyurethane, acrylic, etc. The neck is Ambrosia Maple that is where the streaks come from in the wood.

  • Love this build.  Nice work, Bruce.  A few questions, where did you get the saddle/orange bridge?  What process did you use to dye the maple neck?
