I agree Unc. in general most CBG groups are like that. I think it goes back to folks with common interest building without any rules. No one is getting rich off these things, so we don't do it for money. Like you I have gifted many over the years, you if think about that's as good as selling one. There is no "gold standard" to achieve with these things. But I have built a few 5 string banjo's and people will pick them apart. That's because they are 5 string banjo people and have a pre conceived idea of what a banjo should be. Any deviation messes with them. I had a guy measuring my banjo necks with calipers at various points telling me what they should measure. I still have that banjo and while a poor player I have spent hours picking around on it.
