CBG Build #3 "for Allison"

This hobby lobby craft box build is for my grandchild named "Allison" (Alli). She wanted hers to be made in "Hot Pink" with butterflies . . . this is the closest I could get to her special request. It is fretted with a 25.5 inch scale and has extra light electric guitar strings installed on it so playing it doesn't hurt her fingers . . .

  • You may want to lightly splatter spray the back of the guitar neck with the pink spray paint and quickly streak it in with a small rag dampened with a bit of paint thinner so that the neck has a "pink-washed" look . . . I did that with this one and it came out awesome!!!  :-)

  • Thanks!  I did her front picture up in Microsoft paint (I'm an engineer, not an artist), saved it as a .jpeg file, took it to the Walmart photo center and had it printed out on 8 x 10 paper . . . cut it out to fit the back of the hobby-lobby craft box (the wood is thinnest on the backside - better tone) and roller-glued it on using my wife's kitchen rolling pin.  The edges were sanded and the whole photo was sealed with 3 coats of a protective quick-dry rattle-can spray on clear coating purchased in the paint section at Lowes.  Be sure to roll out all bubbles if you are going to do this so that the photo is securely bound to the wood as the glue dries.  It looks so uniform that everyone seeing it thinks I airbrushed that design onto the front of that craft box for her!  :-)

  • awesome great job.,,.now on my to do list for a niece.,.,
