  Definitely give it a try Slim! I also saw a picture last week with a three string using this idea, but keeping the tines straight and holding the ball end of the string in the spaces instead of curled up inside the tine.

  That sounds very cool. I didn't see a photo of the spoons in your online area though - did you (or would you) post a picture of that?  I'm having fun raiding the flatware drawer. :)

  Good chance they will.  I just finished using 2 spoon as string retainers (lowering devices) on peg heads.   That was some strong metal and hard to bend and harder to drill.  I may try the fork tail piece some time.

  Me too! I couldn't do the sideways bend by hand - that took pliers and a vice, so hopefully it will have enough strength to stay in shape.

  That is a nice touch and done well.  I hope it the tines are strong enough to stay where you have them.
