  • I googled 'CBG 101' and got a bunch of horsepucky about marijuana oil.  LOL!!!  Won't be goin there again.  Right now, I can't play worth a darn, so I really can't tell how good my CBGs are.  They have good volume and sustain, but I get a lot of string buzz because I still have a hard time keeping my slide level.  Even though I play the mandolin a lot and the guitar a little, this CBG is a different ballgame.  I'm still working with my "Blues Box" learner's CD and some basic stuff on YouTube,  I really enjoy making CBGs, but I'm gonna have to find some place to get rid of them once made!  Thanks for your commentary and tips.

  • PS: love that leather work.  Mi gusta.

  • Well crap.  We've all learned such lessons.  It sure came out a beauty.   Hope it plays as good as it looks.  Both your completed CBGs look great.  How is your playing coming?   What got me going was the video knotlenny's CBG 101.   You can google it or find it at page top under resources - how to play.

  • My #2 construct is done, but I had to tear it down and start over,  As Uncle John pointed out, I cut the neck too thin in the box.  Even though I bolstered it with a 3/4" brace, it ended up looking like Robin Hood's longbow when fully strung.  I made a new neck out of white oak, only slightly thinned the neck, and it held up to the stress.  Lesson learned!
