all stain is about idiot proof...get a color that looks like it would be good, test it on some scrap and shabam! but you should stain it, and then sand the crap out of it leaving it look all old and awesome.

Thanks! I was thinking about staining it, but I have no experience with woodworking or finishing, so I don't really no where to begin. Is there an easy idiot-proof type of stain you would suggest?

stain the box dark and then sandpaper it down to antique it a bit haha...match with the darker fretboard
