cat bowl guitar body

This sort of works and sort of doesn't. It's a through neck, except with lots of working around the upturned bowl, which makes it feel quite substantial (heavy!) The neck is quite chunky too. The cat bowl gives it a kind of twangy metallic sound, and it has two top strings tuned the same (so although it's played as a three string, it has four.) I had thought they would be good to play it with to play it like a strummer, but I'm not sure it really works.

I've since changed it to a four stringer, although I'm not entirely sure what to do with the extra string! Thanks for your kind words, I'm pretty pleased with it too!

    Thanks for your comment Hal. Maybe you're right, but I reckon it's the fact that you can't get a clean pluck of the top two strings, at least if you don't use a pick (which I don't - I can barely use my fingers, I'm not complicating things with the introduction of a pick!) It sounds okay plugged into an amp.

    It looks really nice, and I like the idea of the paired top strings.  If you're not happy with the tone, might it be the alignment of the strings over the mag pup?
