  • Donovan is right again.   Or just fill in the frets and paint over them for fretless.   You could go with less strings too if you want.   I think we are all pulling for you to be happy with it.

  • There is a way to fix it and it will look better too. Take all the frets out and sand the fret board down. Glue a new fret board on it and it looks like you could hang it over the can if you wanted to. Get a scale that will work and re fret it. Simple.

  • Truthfully, I spotted the scale length error. Then again my first build was further off and I still hold onto her as a memento that things get better. No mater how well I build the next project, I end up adjusting my technique and process.

Bottom line Steve, its more important to have a blast building these. There is plenty of info and help here on the nation to place you ahead of the learning curve such as fret and scale templates sold by CB Gitty, or free fret calculators on line. Just ask! High action and slide for this one and she does look rustically kewl.

  • True true its just fun to dabble into new and exciting ways to build them I just have fun with it
  • l think being too precise would take all o' the fun outa sumthin like that...

  • Yup.  Donovan is right.   You can set the action/string height high and disregard the frets and markers and it will work.  You can even put new markers on.

  • It will work as a slide gcg.

  • Steve, in stead of just being nice, I am going to tell you the truth as I see it.  It looks cool.  It looks like it would be cool hanging on a wall.   But from studying the photo, I think you have a problem.  Measure the distance from the nut to the 12th fret.   The distance from the 12th fret to the saddle should be very close to the same.   It looks like the lower end is too short to do that.   Good wishes, maybe I am wrong.  Regardless, keep learning and building.

  • Oh yeah! With the cap off, it even has a natural sound hole! Can't wait to see it finished!
  • A dyo-flex canjomanium! Get er strung up, tuned and post a sample.
