build #4 'Jura'

The name Jura was given after being asked to do the build by the customer, and then sealing the deal with a Whisky tasting night. When I couldn't remember the name of my favourite, I was given the (empty) bottle of Jura Superstition to take with me so I could remember in the morning.

  • Okay. That makes more sense than I was seeing -- a bass string for a melody string... very strange ;-) 

  • No, the fret-pieces are just markers. The customer wanted it as a fretless slide guit but with some kind of markers. I didn't really want to do the burned in type on a neck with this grain so i thought i'd try something different!

  • Wha'ts the fret/string scheme? Looks like string #3 is fretted while strings #1 and #2 are fretless. What's up about that? I have one stick dulcimer with the strings reversed so I have to Bend my fretting finger up and over the two drone strings to stop the melody string. Fortunately, it has a low profile neck, so the reach is not that hard. Is this the same idea?
