Thanks BK, I have a friend who used to make lamps that has a very lonnnng auger bit somewhere... we are going to try drilling and putting a piece of threaded steel rod down there. my only other thought was to run a string from the top of the neck to the back of the pan to equalise the pressure somewhat but it would look naff so that is my last resort...
It's the stain the strings put on the neck. I was going to run a brace up the back of the handle but cant figure out to do it with out having to take the turned edges off at the back so its flat so I can get a block of wood on there. Next thought which is what I prefer but will take a while. is drill up the inside of the handle about half the length at least and put one of those threaded rods in there but run it through the pan so it almost acts like a through neck. Also I would not suggest making a bass because the pounds of pressure pulling the neck forward is greater the heavier the guage of strings...
Well Calim, if you like whale song then yes. Because of its age I didnt want to replace the handle & it although I have got bracing inside the pan it is still quite unstable and impossible to keep in tune. bug404 & BeMuzic have the same problem with theirs. So I've walked away from it for the moment. I have a solution in mind that may work will keep you posted.
CW - thats the handle that came with the bedwarmer - its antique think its Aussie Red Cedar. and you forgot the all important Aussie Penny under the key (my signature).
