Harley its absolutely based off the Little Gem. I had the worst output as well on this build and racked my brain on it something fierce. I then simply traced all the components, making sure everything was grounded, soldered correctly and saw that I actually missed a lead on the IC chip. Once I fixed that it was pretty good but the speaker was crap. I changed the speaker out for one I tore out of a pair of USB computer speakers since they have higher output and its great. Grounding - more times than not is the problem. I will be making another build of it and make the board quite a bit tighter, so much perf board was wasted. Below is the exact layout version that I used along with the parts list.
Which amp did you build? Little gem, ruby, etc? I just built a little gem type and not happy with output sound. Need to tweak it. Would love any thoughts you have.
