The distance between the upper dividers (which are 1/2 dowels) is 4", the distance between the bottom and back rails is 6". The length of my rack is 44" to suit the space I had available.
The sides were built in 1 piece, 12" x 30", and then cut on the diagonal to give 2 sides, measuring 2" at the top x 10" at the bottom, mine was built from 3 pieces of treated pine joined centre and bottom by a backing piece of 4" x 5/8" pine, the sides would also work well with plywood or something similar.
The rails were made from 5/8" x 1-1/8" pine, but they do bend when the rack is loaded, so they will need strengthening.
All of these measurements and materials could easily be adapted to suit one's own requirements.

Cheapskate! I love that wood. And I think cbgs are coolest when made out of found and re-purposed items. This started as a poor person's thing.
