I was using ply on the back of mine and burning my logo on it.Now as you saw I'm using a stainless steel campingplate but with the fj cap there is a gap so I still put ply underneath. The last one I did I covered the ply with polished alum. I'll post some photos later. I like the basic look thats what I like to do I get a buzz when people hear them for the first time.
It plays quite well for what it is, a very basic build with a single Piezo Pickup attached to the thru neck, no Tone or Volume controls, it has an open back which I'm thinking of enclosing with ply or metal, but I don't know if it will make a lot of difference, (what do you think?)
I enjoyed your display of well built and nice sounding Hubcap guitars at the "Get Rooted" day at the Goodna pub earlier this month.
