AGP #471 - ''OMG 4''

AGP #471 – “OMG 4”3 String Fretless Gourd GuitarScale: 24 inchesStrings: .049NW .034NW .022NWTuned: F C fThis Build was first done 26th July 2022, and modified 26th August 2002, it started out life in a completely different format, for some reason I thought I needed a Diatonically Fretted Stick Dulcimer, hence the Light Gauge Strings and Frets, but soon found out, that once again, due to Fat Stubby Arthritic Fingers, I suck at Fretting Chords, so off came the Frets, which were replaced by Chromatic Pine Wood Filler Fret Markers, and then strung up with heavier strings. The Gourd is the offcut from my recently modified build AGP #221, the Sound Board is laminated pieces of 4mm thick Cedar Venetian Blind Slats, the Bridge is Forest Red Gum, the Artwork surrounding the Sound Hole was Pyrographed, and a 5.6k Ceramic Single Coil Pickup is wired through Tone and Volume Pots to the Output Jack. The Neck is recycled laminated Grey Ironbark, Victorian Ash and Radiata Pine. All Timbers and the Gourd was coated with Feast Watson Shellac. :-)

  • "Thanks Rev Denim", for those kind comments :-)

  • Really nice-looking build, Alan.  Bonus that it also sounds good!  Well done, friend!

  • "Thanks Doug & UJ", I'm pretty happy with the way this build finally turned out, it also has some reasonably loud Acoustic qualities unplugged, and the fact that it's a "Cheap Arse Build", costing around $26AUD, it probably goes to show, that you don't have to use all those fancy timbers, expensive hardware and pickups, to come up with a nice playable Git ;-)

  • You are the mod master Alan! Concur with Uncle John on Long Black Veil; it’s a player and you played it well!!!

  • A very nice organic and old timey look.  Sounded great on the Long Black Veil video.
