AGP #468 – “Stringybark”2 String Tin Can Resonator Lap Slide Chugger GuitarScale: 23 inchesStrings: .038NW .028NWTuned: B ENicked the idea for this build off an Aussie Guitarist who goes by the name of Stringy Bark McDowell, who lives off the grid, and maybe best described as a little bit eccentric, but by Crikey!, he can play, CBG’s, 6 Stringers and Banjo, check him out on Utube (link at bottom), and in my opinion he does the best version of “Jumper On The Line” I’ve ever heard. As is obvious the the Build is 70mm x 35mm Radiata Pine Framing Timber, built around a 5” x 7” Tin Can, an 8.4k Alnico Single Coil Pickup is hardwired to the Jack and from there Grounded to the side of the Can.I gave the Tin Can a couple of light coats of Clear Enamel, to prevent rust, but the Timber is ‘Au-Natural”.2 string Can Lee bow loop!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PhgjbWLWqBk&t=3sRead more…
"Thanks UJ", pretty much a standard scale for a Lap Slide, and yes Mr McDowell is quite a character, but!, "The Boy Can Play", seen him at a Blues Festival some years back, as part of a duo called "Muddy Puddles", and was blown away with his National Steel Guitar and Slide Banjo Playing :-)
