AGP #456 - ''Snowgoose''

AGP #456 - “Snowgoose”3 String Fretless Baritone GuitarScale: 29¾ inchesStrings: .050NW .034NW .024NWTuned D A dCouldn’t walk past this lovely $6 Pine Hamper Box in one of the local Charity Shops, the Neck is recycled Laminated Pine and Grey Ironbark, all Timber is coated with Gilly Stephenson’s Clear Restoring & New Timber Polish.A 3.8k Lipstick Pickup is wired through Vol & Tone Pots to the Output Jack.Of course with such a long scale and heavy-ish strings, this build does sound very Bass’y, not sure yet If I’m happy with that, and will probably fit lighter strings in the future?. :-)

  • "Thanks Doug", the laminated neck is one of 9 I glued together last year, from left over off cut scraps, still have 2 left, and when they've been used, I will definitely being making some more.

    :-)

  • Another standout build AGP!  The laminations look great. That is an awesome box, a find for sure.

  • Hmm.  That's kinda disappointing on the pup.   Maybe the volume knob can overcome that.

  • Thanks 'UJ' I just consulted my records, and discovered I now have 37 so called Baritone Builds, ranging in Scale from 27 inches to whopping 34 Inches.

The 3.8k Lipstick Pup was one taken of an earlier build I modified, and used in my last Video Sound Sample Red River Valley, AGP #287, the Pup was a fair distance below the Strings, resulting in a very weak Volume signal, so swapped it out, however despite being closer to the Strings on this Build the Vol Signal is still quite weak, I think its got something to do with the low ohm-age (not sure if that's a word?) of this particular Pup. :-)

  • Darn it, I went and found a good pic of a snow goose to post here and right now, the site will not allow it. Goose poop!

Alan, I saw this one roll by on the main page and really liked it. So clean and such good lines. Then I got to the pics section and read the title before I could really see and read the box - and thought, 'Perfect'.

I like every bit of this one and would like to try a scale that long. I will keep my eye out for a long box or maybe think about making one. I like the controls, the lip stick pickup and the matching nut. Fantastic.
