AGP #421 - ''Steak 'n' Kidney Pi''

AGP #421 - “Steak ‘n’ Kidney Pi” - 3 String Fretless PanjoScale: 635mm/25inchesStrings: .038NW 026NW .018NWTunings: GDg AEa ADGFound these two forgotten $2 Pie Pans when scrounging through my Charity Shop find box’s for a Top to use in my last build, AGP #420, and remembered I’d seen and liked a very likeable 2 Pie Plate Tin build some years back, finally tracked it down, to a build by Bob Hillbilly Ingram, so thanks Bob for the inspiration for this build. The Neck is Grey Ironbark & European Beech, finished with Organoil Natural Wax & Polish, a 4.4k Delta Type Single Coil Pickup is wired through Vol & Tone Pots to the Output Jack.I’m quite happy with sound of it at the moment, but not sure whether to stick with the current strings, or restring it with lighter Banjo’y Type Gauges. :-)

  • Great Idea Bob, you won't be disappointed with this simple build!, and of course I don't mind copycats, that's what I did, I copied it off a Rob Hilbilly Ingram build, who probably copied it from someone else, who copied it from someone else etc. etc................................:-D

  • This build has been on my mind now ever since I saw it on the Nation.  I just picked up two pie pans from Dollar Tree, a dollar store here in the states.  I hope you don't mind copy cats but I love pie and maybe I can travel around in my neighborhood and play for pie!

  • "Thanks Bob", will try and get a sound sample done soon!  :-)

  • I said it before and I'll say it again... Totally "Pan"tastic!

  • Yep! Keith, they are 1/16" x 12mm small nuts & bolts, and yes, rivets would have been the cheap and easy way to go, but!, like all my builds, I like to have the option of dismantling them, in case something goes wrong with wiring etc., or I want to modify them at a later date. :-)

  • "Thanks UJ", I'm always up for showing off my Gits and sharing a few Beers, but Distance and Covid  are a bit of a problem at the moment, Wet and Rainy here this morning!  :-)

  • Are those tiny bolts and nuts, or metal screws? Thinking that rivets would work well too.

  • Good looker, AGP.  Makes me want to get together with you and BS and see your many gits and share a couple of beers.   Spring like here and a thunderstorm this AM.  Nice.
