Progress report for AGP #376, a “Dave Lynas” style 2 String Cheroots Bass/ Cello, Neck & Box Slot “Done & Dusted”, tried to use similar materials to Dave, but most were unavailable in the Land Down Under, not sure exactly what Timber Dave used for the Neck, but I tried to lay my hands on a solid piece of Pine or Poplar for the one piece Neck, but couldn’t, so decided to Laminate one from what I had on hand, which was some recycled Radiata Pine and Forest Red Gum, It was not an easy thing to make without a decent Bandsaw but I managed, and as Murphy’s Law Dictates, while searching for a piece of timber to use for a Fretboard, I found hidden away in a corner, a lovely piece of European Spruce that would have done the job nicely, also only had one Parlour Style 2 Hole Open Gear Tuner on hand, looked hard to find some on Ebay, all that was available was 3L/3R from Gitty, but was reluctant to pay the $27.34+ AUD price tag, and wait 2 weeks plus for delivery, so went with 2 enclosed tuners. Will start the Wiring and Sound Holes etc., tomorrow, still undecided as whether to Lightly Stain and Coat the Cheap Chinese Ebay Wine Carrying Box, with the same Gloss Wipe On Poly I used on the Neck or not. :-)

"Thanks Dave", Yep!, very happy with the way Neck looks, it really came alive when I gave it a couple of coats of Gloss Wipe On Poly as per Cheroots, thank you for bringing to my attention that I did have some tucked away in the back of my disorganised shelves, for some reason forgot it was there, the "scroll with a hole" was a late addition, purely for the reason that I hang most of my builds, and when finished will have a piece of rope added, and of course!, it was always going to be named "Dave" :-)
I love the laminate neck ! It’s beautiful! The contrasting wood works great for your pegbox. I like your “scroll with a hole”. I’ve been tempted to do that but never did it yet. Now I will! I’m flattered you named her “Dave”.
