AGP #355 - ''Angie''

AGP #355 - “Angie” - 4 String Fretted - Mini-Telecaster Guitar - Scale: 648mm/25½inches - Strings: .042NW/.030NW/.018PS/.015PS/ - Tuning: G D g BThe body is from a recycled treated Radiata Pine landscape sleeper, the is from various offcuts and Laminated.A 6.4k Tele Type Single Coil Neck Pup and a 14.6k Bridge Humbucker are wired through an experimental electrical system that I recently discovered in my files, that I think originated from a Cigar Box Nation post from some time back, it’s essentially 2 Pups wired straight to the Jack via 2 Vol Pots without the use of a 3 Way Switch, seems to work well, but there are some weird things going on that is well beyond the knowledge of this “Electronically Challenged Individual”, possibly caused by the Diodes used ??, ie: when taking a Digital Multimeter reading at the Jack, Pos and Neg are reversed (and of course I did check to see if I had them wired correctly), and when measuring different k readings on various combinations of the 2 Vol Pots, there does not seem to be any particular pattern to the results. The upstart to all this is that I’m not happy with the somewhat harsh crappy sounds coming out of “Angie”, whether it’s the Wiring Setup, the Strings, or the Pups I’m not really sure, I swapped the original 8k Bridge Humbucker to one which reads 14.6k, I think that is my first suspect, and will change it back to see if it makes any difference. And I am open to any suggestions from the more learned members of the Cigar Box Nation to solving and understanding these couple of problems. :-)

  • "Thanks UJ", I usually drink a 12 pack as an aperitif, before the serious guzzling starts, so I better not come over, I have a long history of becoming very unpopular with my friends wives, Lol

    :-D

  • As usual, I comment and THEN read the story.  Bring it on over and we will figure it out.  It sounds like a carburetor problem or maybe just a dragging brake shoe.

  • Oh baby! If I wanted some plugged in fast paced blues, this would be a good ticket. Nice one, Alan. Bring it and a 6 pack over. I should be done mowing by 3. Don't bring a 12 pack, that gets us in trouble.
