AGP #306 - “Als Pal”(4 String Aluminium Guitar)Scale : 625.5mm / 24⅝inchesStrings : .032NW / .022NW / .017PS / .013PS /Tuning: G / D / G / B /The Body shape and size is of a Parlour Guitar dimensions, and obviously is made from Aluminium Checker Plate (rescued from a dumpster by one of my sons), the Old Lowe Cone was taken from a previous build (soon to be modified), the Neck is Grey Ironbark, the Fretboard is Forest Red Gum and a 6.1k Prewired Single Coil Pickup with Vol & Tone provides the noise, rushed to finish this one by Xmas Eve!, sounds fine, but still have a little bit of fine tuning to do ie; lower the string action and maybe fit with some heavier gauge strings. The weight of this one is identical to the Gal Roofing build “AGP #304” at 3.5kg. :-)

  • "Thanks UJ', the top sides & bottom are held together with small brackets and nuts & bolts, I did have intentions of welding the seams but!, as with the Gal Build, where I attempted (without success) to Soft Solder the joins, my Aluminium Brazing skills were also a failure, I couldn't get the Aluminium hot enough with my Propane Gas Torch to melt the Brazing Rods :-{

  • Great start and as you know, I guessed you were up to a big project.  Do you some how weld, join or seal the back and top to the sides?
