Thanks 'UJ', recently watched a post on DGB tuning by Bob Wurster and decided to String it likewise, then realised that I remembered it as being one of your favourite tunings, and yes!, I am trying to get into some Finger Chords, but wasn't sure what chords were what, so Googled it, and low and behold a guy named "Uncle John" popped up on CBN with a Tutorial and Chord List posting from a few years back, "Thank You", not sure about pushing up to DAd, the .017 Plain Steel was originally a .017 Nickel Wound, but couldn't take the strain of B and ending up breaking, but have dropped it to B F# b which also sounds just fine, all I have to do now is get out of the Work Shed and practice :-)
Thanks Erasmo & Maddog, what makes the Box & the Neck Woods all the nicer is the fact that they're recycled and "FREE", while not 100% sure I think the Fretboard Timber is Queensland Walnut (Endiandra palmerstonii), I have enough left for a couple of Necks, albeit with a few nail holes, but now thinking about just using hem for Fretboards !!!!
Gorgeous woods and grains. I don't recall you tuning DGB before. Are you doing some finger chords? You should be able to get a high open D -DAD out of it too. Very nice.
