AGP #207 - ‘’1939 Ford V8”(3 String Hub Cap Guitar)Scale : 635mm / 25 inchesStrings : .042NW / .032NW / .024NW /Tuning: GDgAccording to Google the Hub Cap is from a 1939 Ford, and from what I can determine the paint on the Hub Cap was the colour of the Car, tried to retain as much of the ‘Relic Look’ as possible, but did clean a lot of the rust from the inside, repainted the V8 insignia a similar blue colour as per the original, and cut and polished the painted section, to try and reveal the original colour of the car, which is I think, one of the three shades of Maroon they used at that time (Claret Maroon, Coach Maroon Bright & Garnet Maroon).Neck is Tasmanian Oak, Fret Board is unknown recycled hardwood, finished with Mahogany Stain and a mixture of Linseed Oil & Turps.Pickup is a 9.62k Dual Rail Humbucker, hard wired to the Jack as a single unit. This “Growler” loves a bit of “Dirt” on the Amp settings, but also sounds fine on “Clean”.

There used to be a place in town named “House of Hubcaps” that had a huge and amazing inventory of vintage stuff. A few years ago, I went in and found this Chevy hubcap to use on a cbg for a local Chevy/hotrod builder. I remember the hubcap being pretty inexpensive- maybe $4 or $5, but the owner just gave it to me after hearing what I was going to do with it.
Unfortunately, the store, after being there seemingly forever, closed a couple of years ago. I’ve never been too much into these kinda’ gits, but I now realize I should have taken advantage of such a remarkable source for the hubcaps, themselves. Man, if someone had wanted to work eBAY with the things- where they’re a lot more expensive, they would have had a virtually never-ending and cheap supply.

Thanks 'Uncle John', Thanks 'Dave', Thanks 'Pick', Thanks 'Jim'.
This is my 14th Hub Cap build, and is the "Loudest and Proudest" of the bunch, and is also listed up there among my favourite players.
Super job and look, AGP; great approach!
