  • Cool.  Sounds like a sound with some teeth to it.

  • "Thanks" Chris, Pick, Uncle John & Maddog.

The original concept came from a build I "SAW"  and copied a photo of, on Cigar Box Nation a couple of years ago, but only just now, got around to building a similar one.

Thanks again Maddog, I had forgotten that little ditty about the Blind Man, something I also remember my father often reciting.

To answer your questions Uncle John, the saw was easy enough to cut with a grinder, but!! drilling the holes was a completely different matter, "very bloody hard", the sound has its own resonance, or ring if you like, due to the fact it is good quality tempered steel, a little added  (but  unplanned) bonus is if you apply pressure on and off to the back of saw handle you can get a Tremolo Arm effect!.

After 40 odd years in the building trade I still have 3 or 4 good quality saws (including a Disston wasting away in the shed, and as we know these days, it costs more to get them sharpened, than to buy a cheap throwaway tungsten tipped saw.

I am impressed by the unique sound of the blade, and am thinking and planning to build a Lap Slide, utilising the full length of the saw, but! with a “minimal” amount of drilling.

  • Awesome AGP! Love the concept Man!

This also reminds me of a little poem of sorts that my Dad used to say when I was a kid, it goes..."I see said the blind man as he picked up his hammer and saw" :-)

  • I knew that was you when the photo went by on the main page.  Wow.   What a great idea and execution.  How hared was the saw to cut?   And how is the sound?  Does it cut through the mix?

  • that's cooler  than snowman pee  ;-)
