AGP #133 “Firebrace”(1 String Diddley Bow CBG)Scale: 660.4mm / 26 inchesString: .0.44NW Tuning: GThis build was done in respect to my, Great-Great- Grand-Mother, who is referred to in my genealogical research only as "Unknown Aboriginal", but possibly could have used the name "Firebrace", the surname of the white owners of the land in her region at the time.The box is hand built from pine, the neck was sourced from the bush, a Piezo Disc pickup added, the art work was all patiently done by hand, in the ‘Aboriginal Dot Style’, by a very impatient person (me !!!).

After an Aussie friend of mine sent me a didgeridoo completely decorated in 'Aboriginal Dot Style,' I thought about doing a cbg in that vein, but chickened out. : /
Thanks "Uncle John" for all your "Flowery Flowing Comments", this is one of 2 "Heritage Builds" the other one a 3 string, yet to be finished and forwarded (unpainted) to a cousin for her to decorate in her style (whatever that may be?).
"Firebrace" was built solely as a an "Arty Farty" project, which probably won't get played much, and it will be hung proudly on our living room wall.
The next direction my CBG's will take, changes daily with whatever comes into my head at the time, I presently have a fair amount of Cedar slats sourced from some old venetian blinds, and timber from an old Piano I bought for $30, originally built in England, I know some of the wood is Spruce pine, which includes the soundboard, the rest I'm not sure of but "I think" may be Beech & Maple, so will probably try and use these timbers, hopefully in some "Rustic Style" builds.
Wow, AGP. I've become a fan of your stuff and I thought I could recognize it. This one threw me, I would not have guessed it for yours. It's Full. Wonderful. Whimsical. Colorful. Historical.
I llke that Aboriginal dot style. A big load of good on you. I hope you keep this one or give it to someone very special. Hunh, Now it will be interesting to see what direction your CBGs take.
