The pickup for Mama Cas' is a 27mm disc piezo embedded in a beer bottle cap (Àla Homegrown Strings method) it is fixed to the underside of the top of the can, just inside the filler cap, there is also a small timber sound post under the bridge to the threaded rod which runs thru the can, this was done to stop the can top from caving in.
The whole project cost $10.30 AU, the can was found at the local dump and neck timber is recycled hardwood sourced from a building site, and the tailpiece is an old door striker plate.
This brings back memories of racing dirt bikes in the 70s and early 80s. Some guys used Castrol 2 stroke oil and it had nasty strong smell if you were behind them.
