The headstock is pine that I stained and it just did what it did. I had no clue ahead of time that it would come out like that. I made this instrument as a prop for a play about David at Charis Bible College in Woodland Park, Colorado, it's now being shipped off to Florida to the Holy Land Experience. After "David" I had to re-stretch and tighten the strings. It's not actually played in the performance.
Beautiful headstock. Lots of our cbg’s are cardstock, fiber board, printed paper looking like wood grain. So why not? Your instrument looks African or Mid-Eastern. Very nice. I used imitation sinue for the binding on a drum once but discovered it was stretchy. It failed at holding the head taught. Now it’s a wall hanger. How are your strings doing? Holding tune?
