the lid on the box is approx 1/2" thick. i thought this would be a problem but it is actually quite loud acoustic. to get the action where i wanted it i had to lower the strings so close to the box they wouldnt stay put on the bridge. i added the brass plate to give them the correct break angle. i dont really like it but it works
