Hey Steve, Fired up your guitar last Thursday. Got a little hum from the Lipstick pickup though. So I did some research on wiring it. Even though it has it's own case ground shielding (a woven wire mesh to protect the wires from picking up noise) some builders here on the Nation are slipping on an additional braided shield over that again! So jumped on EBay and placed an order for some. I tore your Gitt down last Friday to get to stain and poly the neck. Have to make another aluminum bridge for it as well (buffing it out to make it look chromed). You'll have to wear sunglasses however when you look at it - bright glare! Hope that additional shielding works! I hate the hum from single coil p/u's! Oh and P/M me with your Ship To Address - It might go out as early as the 16th/17th?
Just bought a Fender G Dec off the local craigslist this past week. Thin tones, but the jam along patterns are really helpful. Made me realize I have no timing when playing on my own. I've yet to jam with anybody else.
So looking forward to some new sounds! Wife offered to take me amp shopping after this guit arrives. I'd like to match it up with something that's meant for it.
So yeah, I'll be taking it with me to the music store and trying out everything I can. Figured the wife can just drop me off since I may be a while. Looking forward to it.
It's fun to watch as your future builds get fancier with every build! I hope this one is no exeption! Put a lot of "heart & soul" into this build knowing it's going to a very talented player ... The fun part will be in observing how the new owner will learn and understand in how to play it ... That's almost as much fun as building it!!! "Good Luck Slowhound" you've got a whole new sound to figure out"!!!! I 'm just dying to finish this one and send it to Maryland! I've got some "real groovy" stuff built into this one! Wait till you see the new bridge/tailpiece & armrest!!!
