Thank you Poorness Studios for reply, I have also considered flatwound strings. I only have problem finding super long strings needed for this construct. The distance from ball to silk needs to be relatively long unless I will change the idea of bringing strings throuh the neck.
I made a 2 string bass recently and decided to go fretless (simply because I was looking to emulate more of a washtub bass sound). I really like it. Granted its a lot more punchy than a washtub... but if you roll back the tone pot, you can get a really upright-y tone from it.

I should probably add that I went with flatwound strings on the project, and I added fret lines to keep track of my fingering.
