3-String License Plate Guitar - Commission

Don’t see plates like this every day; customer supplied. Took apart another one to make this happen. It worked because the first letter was a “J”! Still has to grind down the plastic on the bridge to make it fit. Better to be lucky than good!

  • You’re welcome Uncle John. Lesson learned after picking flat sawn yardsticks with attractive grain patterns and finding out that varying softness of wood caused frets to end up very unlevel.

  • Good tip on yardstick grain.  

  • Thanks again Uncle John. I really like the yardsticks, but I’m careful to pick vertical grain, so the frets sink in evenly. My underpowered Mighty Mite table saw from Harbor Freight thrives on softer wood when cutting fret slots!

  • Love it.  I am working on an LPG too and now I wish I had used a yard stick.
